ONLINE WORK CULTURE: THE DIFFERENCE IT CREATED

With the growing advancement in the field of technology and science, the era witnessed the fast-paced growth of various jobs and professions. There exists a principle of WORK CULTURE or WORK ETHIC as we call it in every job we do. To maintain effective culture is highly necessary, that in fact, wins over even strategy. Culture briefs one on how to respond to a service request. The workplace that we work in should not feel monotonous rather employees should be spontaneous with their work.

Employees should be in high spirits and be motivated which would have a positive impact on the work and will automatically on the work culture itself. Happiness generates more productivity that is the sole motto of any work as well as the firm one is working in. Furthermore, the CEOs should see the employees as one single team rather than considering them as a bunch of individuals. Online or remote work culture is defined as “an inexpressible sense of connection the co-workers feel when they are tied together by similar priorities.” This notion is highly evident in this form of work culture since the employees don’t see each other on a regular basis.

The pandemic (COVID-19) which has locked everyone in their home has heightened the online work culture. People work flexibly and are their own boss being and working within the space of their own home. This culture also counteracts remote isolation in the sense that the employees are virtually connected and as a result do not encounter each other totally on a regular basis. Also, it has been seen that partial or complete remote work is the new normal in such a tumultuous time when everything is at stake be it education, job, life. A recent Gartner survey found out that 74% of chief financial officers will be moving some employees to work on a fully remote status if and when physical distancing measures relax after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Yet another feather in the cap is that the online work culture helps to build long-term relationships between the employees. It nurtures the sense of intimacy they share and the bond is consistent for a long period of time. This mode of work culture is a real time-saver and hassle-free too. It has been also seen that the companies who build cultures to survive challenges inherent to remote work will skip the immense pain of altering work models, thus maintaining good productivity with the changing trends.

The usual office scenario is going a drastic change for quite some time. Every worker or employee has a different notion regarding this work culture thus making it a hot topic for debate today. Some consider online work culture a blessing while some workers still believe that they can achieve maximum while working at the office. Results have shown that the remote work, non-self-employed population has grown ten times as fast as the rest of the workforce since 2005. For some people, motivation and enthusiasm come from working in their cubicle in offices while some are highly motivated and perform great from their comfortable space of the home.

Employees who work together remotely can still keep the culture alive in the similar way that people living in different areas can share culture. At the end of the day, culture is not a place instead it is a mindset. If people are hired you trust then you should rely on them completely. As long as remote working is a realistic and apt option for the business and you hired the right people, you can find the results are anything but a step backwards. Building an effective online work culture is mandatory so as to yield the desired outcomes. For this, you need to work together as a single entity and cannot treat one separately. Work is worship as the saying goes and every CEO should be empathetic towards each of the employee. In order to the smooth functioning of the work, it is necessary to keep in mind that every person is a different being and should be handled accordingly. This form of work culture generates more productivity and provides a sense of intimacy, a great connection that has nothing to do with the space one is working instead relies on the grounds of shared priorities, interests and attitudes.

Being online there are some drawbacks too. For example, the real development of the culture develops organically in a traditional working place whereas, in an online working mode, one has to be more mindful and conscious. From a virtual work culture perspective, work is about contextual conversations. The effective medium of online work culture trusts its members to deliver their work in a right and organized way. Furthermore, strong support from the seniors can help the online working employees interact better. It strengthens the virtual workforce’s engagement and their commitment to the job.
