Detective Conan Episode 636

The twentieth season of the Case Closed anime was directed by Kōjin Ochi and produced by TMS Entertainment and Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation.[1] The series is based on Gosho Aoyama's Case Closed manga series. In Japan, the series is titled Detective Conan (名探偵コナン, Meitantei Conan) but was changed due to legal issues with the title Detective Conan.[2] The series focuses on the adventures of teenage detective Shinichi Kudo who was turned into a child by a poison called APTX 4869, but continues working as a detective under the alias Conan Edogawa.

The corresponding manga chapters are listed in parentheses next to the episode numbers if you are interested. The first set is the overall chapter numbers and the second is the chapters as contained within each volume, separated by a bar (). If a manga chapter reference is followed by an asterisk (*), then there has been some story-critical change between the manga and the anime adaptation.

Since Detective Conan has had some direct crossovers with the Magic Kaito manga over the years, yet those parts of the Detective Conan anime never had the Magic Kaito parts that gave them context animated as well, those crossovers have never really had their full and proper effect for anime-only fans. However, now that Magic Kaito has finally received an adequate anime adaptation, I have taken the liberty of working the timings of these all-important crossovers into where they fit in with their Detective Conan episode counterparts, making the crossovers whole once more. The Internet can thank me later. The only issue is that the Magic Kaito episodes are entirely out of order. But, the order really does not matter for that series as it does with Conan, as the series is entirely episodic beyond pretty much the first episode. So, you can ignore that and watch that series in any order you wish.

An episode being on this list does not necessarily mean that I am insisting that you watch it. It is calling the case out as one that someone might not want to miss for some reason or reasons, with those listed. If the reason given does not look like it matters to you, feel free to ignore that episode.

The *Main Plot* label is only there to point out episodes that you definitely should not skip, since listing the spoiler-lite reasons alone may not be enough. Watching only those episodes is missing out on most of the character development, which is what mainly causes you to care about what happens in those episodes in the first place. While I am not necessarily recommending that you watch every case listed, I am suggesting that you find a balance somewhere in the middle that works for you.

13 [INTL 14] (manga 13-16V2F4-7*): Introduces Miyano Akemi. *Main Plot*Note her importance was far more immediately obvious in the manga (although not the full breadth of it by any means). But the anime creators were idiots, in a way they really seemed to enjoy being at this point in the anime, and changed the ending of this episode completely. Therefore, they had to make a special original followup episode later on when they got to adapting the part of the manga where the implications of the true ending started to become extremely important. Fortunately, I think they learned from this incident and stopped doing things quite so dumb from that point on.

Directed by Kenji Kodama and Yasuichiro Yamamoto, and has aired since January 8, 1996 on Nippon TV in Japan and is currently ongoing as of 2018. It has aired over 1000 episodes in Japan making it one of the longest running anime series.

Shinichi Kudo is a 17-year-old high school detective whom people call the "Modern Sherlock Holmes." However, one night after a date with his childhood sweetheart, Ran, Shinichi witnessed an illegal trade and was knocked unconscious and fed a drug that was supposed to kill him... but he woke up and found himself shrunken to a 7-year-old. In order to track down the men who did this to him, Shinichi reinvented his identity as Conan Edogawa and lived with Ran, whose father happened to be a hopeless detective, and with that came a series of murders and mysteries that he must solve.

Prior to FUNimation's more well-known dub, an earlier English dub was produced for the Singaporean market in 2003 under the show's original title by Odex International. 52 episodes were recorded locally at Voiceovers Unlimited and aired on Channel i. The dub was directed by Chuck Powers.[1] According to Joseph Murray, episodes were not released on VCD as rumored; however, he ripped episodes and released them on DVD during the final stages of production. [2]

In 2003, the first 104 episodes were licensed by FUNimation Entertainment for distribution in North America, under the title Case Closed because of legal considerations (avoiding conflicts with the Conan the Barbarian series). Unlike most dubs produced by FUNimation, all of the voices and characters were "Americanized". Meaning most, if not all, Japanese names were changed. Examples include Shinichi being renamed Jimmy, Ran being renamed Rachel, and Kogoro being renamed Richard. FUNimation's conversion of the principal characters' names into Anglicized forms was heavily criticized by various parties.

Case Closed debuted on Cartoon Network as part of their Adult Swim programming block on May 24, 2004, though no more than 50 episodes were licensed from FUNimation due to low ratings. FUNimation released DVDs of their dubbed series beginning on August 24, 2004. Initially, the releases were done in single DVDs and future episodes were released in seasonal boxes. 130 episodes (in the international numbering, since in the original Japanese numbering only 123 was reached) have been released in total along with the first 6 films released between 2006-2010. FUNimation ceased dubbing of the series due to the DVD sales not justifying the cost of the license. Despite varying degrees of fan demand, it is highly unlikely that the dub will be continued (at least by FUNimation), with product manager Adam Sheehan stating that FUNimation was done with the show.[3] Since March 2013, FUNimation still streamed the series, until their license expired on May 4, 2018.[4]

A separate English adaptation of the series by Animax Asia premiered in the Philippines on January 18, 2006. Because Animax was unable to obtain further TV broadcast rights, their version comprised 52 episodes, much like Odex's dub.[5] The dub was recorded by Omni Productions.[6]

An English dub of episodes 965-974 was released on Tubi on February 8, 2023. [7] The voice cast features five Los Angeles voice actors for the main characters, while the other characters are dubbed in Miami. Subsequently, episodes 975-984 with dubbing were released. 041b061a72
