In the end, they succeed in capturing Gara, with the power that Deidara shows in the entire episode. That was the first appearance of Deidara in Anime, and it became popular as he fought Gara toe-to-toe and defeated him with a clever mind but lost his left arm in between the fight.
In Episode 124, Deidara died from an explosion caused by his own C0 Bomb, but before his actual death, he came close to death when he was fighting with Naruto in Kazekage Rescue Mission Arc.
