Alexander Alekhine's Best Games: Algebraic Edition

This book contains a selection of the very best of Alekhine's annotation of his own games, converted to algebraic by John Nunn. These games span his career from the early encounters with Lasker, Tarrasch and Rubenstein, through his world title battles, to his meetings with the new generation of players who were to dominate chess in the 1950s.

Alexander Alekhine's Best Games: Algebraic Edition

Regarding Chess Fundamentals, the only option for those seeking an algebraic edition is the one produced by Cadogan Chess in 1994. In commendation of Chess Fundamentals, Owen J. Clarkin (Ottawa, Canada) has written:

The Nimzowitsch and Tarrasch books are available in algebraic editions from Hays Publishing (produced in 1991 and 1994 respectively). In 2007 Quality Chess brought out a new English translation of My System. We have not looked closely at any of these modern editions.

Matt Goddard (Warwick, RI, USA) was one of several readers to propose The Ideas Behind the Chess Openings by Reuben Fine. It too is available in an algebraic edition, published by B.T. Batsford Ltd. in 1989.

Alexander Alekhine's Best Games, which is an algebraic edition of Alekhine annotations from his two-volume My Best Games of Chess and from Alekhine's Best Games of Chess 1938-1945, includes the following games from the 1927 match: Games 1, 11, 21, 32, 34. (So between this and Kasparov, there are 12/34 games covered.)

Alekhine wrote over twenty books on chess, mostly annotated editions of the games in a major match or tournament, plus collections of his best games between 1908 and 1937.[105][unreliable source] Unlike Wilhelm Steinitz, Emanuel Lasker, Capablanca and Euwe, he wrote no books that explained his ideas about the game or showed beginners how to improve their play.[92] His books appeal to expert players rather than beginners:[11] they contain many long analyses of variations in critical positions, and "singularities and exceptions were his forte, not rules and simplifications".[92] 041b061a72
