Money Heist - Season 1 [EXCLUSIVE]
There are no plans for a second season at this stage, a spokesperson for Netflix told Newsweek. However, six more episodes are in the pipeline for Season 1, forming Part 2 of the first season. The upcoming episodes have been shot, cast members previously told Newsweek.
Money Heist - Season 1
The finale also saw the heist team on a high, after gaining the public's trust by confirming all hostages were alive and seeing the beginnings of their underground escape route after Moscow (the heist member tasked with digging a hole for their getaway) finally reach the dirt level.
In other developments, Denver, Moscow's son on the heist team, forms a close bond with Yoon Mi-seon (played by Lee Joo-bin), one of the hostages who works at the mint. The finale sees them consummate their feelings, perhaps marking the start of a budding relationship, as mirrored in the original Spanish work where Denver falls for a hostage.
The series closes on an open-ended note, with Cha Moo-hyuk (the North Korean leader of the task force played by Kim Sung-ho) approaching the Professor outside his house following his suspicions that Woo-jin's partner Park Sun-ho (the Professor's real name) could be the mastermind behind the heist.
One of his favorite parts from the show is a scene in the finale, when the Professor asks whether Woo-jin would consider quitting her work on the mint hostage case (which would effectively make her useless to the heist plan), saying: "You seem like you're having a difficult time."
A spin-off was long rumored as we came closer to the final season that touched down on Netflix in two parts in 2021. Alex Pina, the creator of Money Heist, had teased numerous times the possibility of expanding further into characters introduced in the mothership series.
Netflix's Money Heist show doesn't have a completely linear story, so here's an explanation of how the timeline works. The Spanish crime drama was created as a limited series but has found a significant following through Netflix. After re-cutting the first season into two parts/seasons, the viewership on Netflix resulted in the streaming service renewing Money Heist for another two seasons. The fourth batch of episodes arrived in April 2020 and saw Money Heist become one of Netflix's most popular titles.
The story of Money Heist revolves around elaborate heists orchestrated by the Professor (Álvaro Morte), who steals money from banks and has a code not to harm anyone in the process. Money Heist season 1 follows the job at the Royal Mint of Spain, and season 2 focuses on robbing the Bank of Spain. Both heists see the Professor call the shots as his team of robbers with city-themed code names attempt to stick to the intricate plans. But, thanks to the longevity of the heists and various flashbacks, the Money Heist timeline can be a bit confusing.
Before the Professor was involved in any heists, the idea to attempt them came from his father. The Professor's father was a criminal who told him about his plan for the perfect heist, which became the inspiration for the Royal Mint of Spain heist years later. This predates the main story of Money Heist, and it is revealed in season 2 that the plan for the Bank of Spain heist was in the works before season 1. Flashbacks during Money Heist season 2 show Berlin (Pedro Alonso) - the Professor's brother - explaining how the heist could happen a few years before season 1 began.
From there, Money Heist seasons 1 and 2 have a reasonably straightforward timeline of events. It begins with the Professor saving Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó) from the police and assembling the team of robbers for the Royal Mint of Spain heist. The Professor and his team take five months to construct and go over the plan for the job. The present-day setting of the story comes during the actual heist itself, as Money Heist shows the complications that come with it. Although the heist is a success, the Professor's team loses Oslo, Moscow, and Berlin in the process.
The Money Heist season 3 picks up two or three years after the Royal Mint of Spain heist with Rio captured by Europol. This forces the Professor to use Berlin's plan for the Bank of Spain heist with the hopes that Rio can be freed in the process. The Professor brings Tokyo, Helsinki, Nairobi, and Denver back for the heist and adds Stockholm, Manila, Lisbon, Bogotá, Palermo, and Marseille to the team. Only Nairobi has died amid the Bank of Spain heist, but the job isn't over at the end of Money Heist season 4. Future seasons of the series (should there be more) will have to show what comes next and expand the timeline further.
The first season of Money Heist gripped Netflix subscribers back in 2017, and has also been keeping viewers entertained during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Unfortunately, rewatching the first instalment of the Spanish thriller has unearthed some peculiar errors.
Do you remember where seasons 1 and 2 were filmed? This was mainly in the Royal Mint in Madrid. The building is not a real bank. This building is used by the CSIC, the Spanish National Research Council, the largest scientific research institute in Europe. You may not enter the building, but it is still nice to walk by to see where the series has been shot.
Remember the big zeppelin that dropped a lot of money all over the city? This was filmed above the Plaza del Callao in Madrid. It is one of the most centrally located squares in Madrid. It is a very lively square with many shops, large screens and the iconic Callao cinemas. This square is a smaller version of Times Square.
The third season starts with scenes on a paradise island. Tokyo and Rio are hiding here. It is actually an archipelago (archipelago) of nearly 400 islands scattered along Panama's Caribbean coast. This destination has become even more famous after the third season.
Did you know that La Casa de Papel has its own escape room in Madrid? An escape room is a game in which you are locked up in a room with a group. The aim is to find a way out through puzzles and riddles. The escape room of La Casa de Papel is next to the real Royal Mint (the place where seasons 1 and 2 were filmed) which makes it even more fun!
Did you watch Money Heist? Devoured seasons 1 and 2 and want more? Will there be a Money Heist season 3 on Netflix?Yes there will. Netflix announced recently that the show will be coming back for another season.
I had never heard of any of the cast before this show but each plays their part well. Álvaro Morte plays El Profesor, the mastermind of the heist while the supporting cast of Úrsula Corberó, Alba Flores, Itziar Ituño, Miguel Herrán, Jaime Lorente, Paco Tous, Pedro Alonso, Darko Peric and others all support superbly.
Money Heist season 2 follows the team during the aftermath of the heist. The police are collecting evidence and closing in on the gang, someone gets captured, the gang try to win public support for the heist and someone gets injured during a situation later in the series. Then a cop has a relationship with El Professor to make things even murkier.

Just before we got to see which one he chose, the trailer ended, igniting much curiosity among fans.Today, we finally answer this question with the reveal of the teaser poster, where the Hahoe-inspired mask sports a big empty smile. But the bloodstains scattered on one side of the white mask raises yet another question, foreshadowing that this heist will also entail life-threatening overturns.Reborn in Korea, the new series is set in a fictional Joint Economic Area, in a world where the Korean Peninsula faces reunification.
