Fantastic and one of the most memorable old dos game, created by Jordan Mechner: Prince of Persia. Prince of Persia is set to a nicely done 2D environment and you play the role of a young prince, who must rescue the princess from the evil sultan. You just have to pass through the 12 levels and princess will throws herself into your arms. Easy as pie, except for a few small things. Palace and dungeons you go through is full of all sorts of traps: the most scary one for me are abysses - you can see them everywhere in the game and you have to learn how to overcome them. It is important to learn how to time your jump, because if you jump a second later, you're gonna fall down. You have to notice the places, where you can fall through the floor. There are also lots of traps in the form of the guillotine and the young prince could easily become 2-half prince. And last but not least, there are a number of trained enemies - Fakirs. As you advance during the gameplay, their skills improve and you start to meet smarter and harder opponents. Prince of Persia is a truly remarkable game, and even today it is great entertainment for a long evening.
A game by Jordan Mechner, which, thanks to its popularity, has received many sequels (whether successful or vice versa). In this game, wrapped in a somewhat simpler 2D jacket, in the role of a young prince, you set out to save the princess from the villainous sultan. So it's up to you to go through 12 treacherous levels and free the princess.

Two additional versions of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands were released with additional content for players to download using Ubisoft's UPlay software or Valve's Steam client. May 25, 2010, Ubisoft announced a unlockable skin of Ezio Auditore da Firenze from Assassin's Creed 2 would be available for download for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.[13][14] Additionally to unlock the skin of Malik's armor in the game, players would have to text "PRINCE" to 44144 to get it.[14][13]
Depending on the version bought, the "Collector's Edition" of The Forgotten Sands included a free download of the Xbox Live Arcade game Prince of Persia Classic or Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.
The "Digital Deluxe Edition" of The Forgotten Sands for Steam included a digital download of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, and the soundtrack composed by Steve Jablonsky.[15]
Connecting the PlayStation Portable to the PlayStation 3 would give those specific console users two upgrade units when playing on the PlayStation 3, and unlock an alternate skin from The Sands of Time when playing on the PlayStation Portable.[citation needed] PlayStation Portable users could download a version of the game from the PlayStation Network and launch it using the PSP.[16]
On December 20, 2011, the PC and Console version of The Forgotten Sands was released on PlayStation Network, retailing at $19.99.[27] The game was also released for free download for PlayStation Plus users for a short time.[27] It was re-released again for PlayStation Plus on September 16, 2016 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 users.[28]
Brad Shoemaker of Giant Bomb, reviewing on the Xbox 360, was less glowing about The Forgotten Sands and the return to The Sands of Time Trilogy over the 2008 reboot of the series. "Despite the finely tuned level design and decent variety in the action, Forgotten Sands just feels a little rough around the edges".[44] He criticized the game's lack of production quality in terms of visuals, believing it to be underwhelming in comparison to then current generation console releases, and thought the environments were too similar to the other. He additionally criticized the Prince's new look, remarking, "[...]I disliked the weird design of the prince himself so much that I played most of the game with him wearing an Ezio costume, as soon as I unlocked it".
An unnamed prince is followed in the game whose father leaves an ancient city for the investigation of a traitorous Vizier. In the attack, the prize receives an artifact known as Time Dagger, and the army of his father has captured an hourglass that contains the Sands of Time which holds a lot of mystery. When he visits the palace of Sultan of Azad for presenting the Sands in the form of a gift, the Vizier starts tricking the prince and asks him to release the sands, changing the people of Azad into different savaged monsters in his control.
The movement of the prince can be changed in every direction and he can manipulate all big objects like levers and books linked with a different mechanism. His power and health meter can be represented in the corner of the top left on the screen. The prince can restore his health by drinking water which is collected from fountains and pools.
Accumulating sands can increase the power of the prince and intake of water from unrevealed magic fountains can increase the maximum health of the prince. At many points throughout the game, the prince is helped by his friend Farah, who can fire a bow towards his enemies though all the arrows can be hitting the prince if he is willing to stray into the fireside. Monsters can attack her and the game will end once she gets killed.
The sands and the prince can collect from rivals as well as the environment who are attached to all his magical potentials themselves carrying a Dagger. The primary power is the option that lets you rewind, the potential for the prince for rewinding time by nearly ten seconds if he can make a mistake while platforming and dies in the process. During the battle, the prince also can slow down the time instantly, freezing time for any enemy, and freeze the time completely so that the prince can also attack his rivals at high speed when they are not able to move. Using power-ups can help the players in moving ahead in the game more smoothly. There are different power-ups options that you can use all through the game.
Along with Farah, a young girl who is aware of the potential of the sands, the Prince puts efforts into correcting all his mistakes and foiling the evil plans that Vizier has. The gameplay is focused on the platforming capabilities of the prince, broken by the fights with different creatures developed by the sands. An important mechanic can be found in the game to use the Dagger for rewinding the time whenever the prince makes mistakes while platforming. The Dagger can be used to freeze and kill enemies.
